Yitty Gift Guide

A gift guide that helps customer decide what to get for the holiday season.

Role: UX Designer | Platform: Desktop and Mobile | Tools: Figma | Timeline: 8 weeks

Context

Yitty is a shape-wear brand co-created by Lizzo. It focuses on being revolutionary and having shape-wear that is designed for all body types.

Problem Statement

With the holiday quickly approaching, our team aimed to created a guide that could motivate customers to shop for cozy seasonal apparel. We recognized that many customers are already busy during the holidays and wanted to stay calm with shopping. As the lead UX designer on the project, I collaborated with a Senior UX designer, Product Manager, Software Developer, and the QA team. We aimed to completed the project within a tight deadline of 2 months.

Solution

The team decided that created a gift guide aligned with our branding would solve these issues.

Design process

I received the project requirements from my product manager through Jira. Before commencing the project, I met with her to ensure I understood the prompt clearly.

Research

To begin the project, I researched competitors with gift guides, focusing on Louis Vuitton, Adidas, and Gucci. I discovered that these brands primarily use visual elements to sell their products. Therefore, we incorporated gifs and small videos throughout our guide to enhance the storytelling aspect of our products.

Understanding users

In order to created a gift guide I must understand what issues users experience while shopping during the busy season. Below are some of the issues user experienced:

  • Users felt overwhelmed with all the options they had while browsing on the website.

  • They don’t know what is popular for the season.

  • They want to feel like the product has story telling

Wireframes

I created wireframe for the team to provide feedback on. I kept the design system in mind while structuring the project layout. One challenge we encountered was deciding how many products to promote on each row. We wanted to keep our products manageable.

Feedback

The stakeholders found the design had too much whitespace. To address this, we increased the number of products and decreased the white space on each side. After stakeholders approved the layout, I created high-fidelity mockups. I collaborated with the creative team to gather assets for the final deliverables. Additionally, I met with the software developer to discuss the project’s feasibility and ensure that the layout was within scope.

High Fidelity

Once I made the necessary revisions and added the assets, the gift guide came together. I presented the mockup to my project manager and walked her through the design before the stakeholder meeting. During the meeting, the stakeholders were pleased with the outcome. We handed the project over to the developer and QA team, and the gift guide was launched during the holiday season.

Metric

The gift guide increased sales by 10%

Reflection

This project was one of my favorites while working at Fabletics. Collaborating with various teams and receiving constructive feedback was fulfilling. I learned that working with stakeholders they tend to have different options that goes against good design. This is where you need to pushback and explain your reasoning. I was thrilled to have been given such an impactful project during the year’s busiest season.
